DBP, DTK, HDK, HDP, and Free Women’s Movement have issued a joint declaration against the constitutional amendment draft to be put to referendum.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Free Women’s Movement (Tewgera Jinen Azad) have published a joint declaration in DBP Diyarbakır Provincial Office against the constitutional amendment draft to be put to referendum.

‘There must be a Democratic Republic Constitution’

The declaration pointed out that one should begin solving the social problems which have accumulated over 90 years, with a “Democratic Republic Constitution”, the current constitutional amendment draft to be put to referendum was neither able nor had the capacity to solve any social problems including the Kurdish issue and called on everybody to say “no” in the referendum.

“Monistic, sexist, centrist”

The declaration also underlined that the constitution draft was one imposed by the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), did not include other political bodies and was monistic, centrist, sexist and nationalist.
“There must be a negotiating table again”

Noting that a “no” result would be the best for the whole society, the declaration argued that establishing a monistic, centrist, sexist and nationalist constitution based on the AKP-MHP partnership would be hindered this way and that the new phase to follow should include seeking for solutions on the negotiating table.
